Brief Report:
It is for the first time that SARPS Congress is held in India.
The Theme of the SARPS Congress 2014 was “Pain: Reduce! Relieve!! Remove!!!”
There were total 45 International Faculty and delegates from all South Asian Countries, Indonesia, UK, USA, Malaysia, Sudan, Portugal, Columbia, Mauritius & Denmark participated in this event.
Total 500 plus faculty & delegates from all the states of India were part of this congress.
It is for the first time that Pain Specialists from South Asian Countries were meeting in such a large number and discussed Pain Management keeping issues and people of developing countries in mind. How to make pain management services more cost effective? How the dosage of Pain (Killer drugs) medicines differ in Western World population and for Asian countries people, were part of scientific plenary session.
The scientific program was focused for beginners, practicing pain physicians and advanced procedures & researches in pain management.
A one day workshop on “Live Demonstration” of various most recently developed interventional pain management procedures was part of the congress. Total 15 procedures were demonstrated. Kyphoplasty was one of them.
The ultra-modern campus of GCS Medical College was right choice for holding this mega event.
Shri Nitinbhai Patel, Hon Minister Health (Cabinet) was Chief Guest and Shri P K Taneja (IAS), Principal Secretary & Commissioner, Health & FW, Medical Education & Medical services was Guest of honour of the Inauguration Ceremony of the congress.
