Services :   

The Pharmacy Wing is functioning in four sections. (i) Main Pharmacy, (ii) Indoor Pharmacy, (iii) Outdoor Pharmacy, (iv) Chemotherapy Pharmacy.

Activities :   

About 521 medicines are dispensed from this department. The Pharmacy Computers are linked with all bill collection counters to know the day today availability stock of medicines in pharmacy. Pharmacy services are arranged in such a way that outdoor patients from OPD can collect their medicines (Tablet/capsules) from ground floor Room No. A4, which is just opposite to RMO office. Indoor patients (admitted in wards) and BMT Patients can collect their medicines from Room No. 210 (2nd Floor, Old Building). Day Care patients (patient on chemotherapy treatment) and patients of OT, Post-Operative, Special Room, Paediatric and Radiotherapy can collect their medicines from Room No. 413 4th floor C Wing of New GCRI Building (Chemotherapy pharmacy). It remains opened on working days from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm and on holidays from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm. Requisition of medicines from various departments and wards are dispensed from Main Store – first floor above Annapurna canteen. Delivery of purchased medicines is accepted at Main Store – first floor above Annapurna Canteen. Number of patients under School Health Programme is markedly increased and all medicines are purchased and supplied to them. Special services are provided to special room patients. OT and ICU patients on priority base. Patients of Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PMJAY) and SC/ST category are supplied costly drugs as well as surgical items / ortho surgical items free of cost as per rule. To provide better services to patients the pharmacy services hours are extended and remains open from 8.00 am to 9.00 pm.

Silent billing services are started by pharmacy department in the month of November, 2011. Simultaneous work of billing and dispensing of medicines are performed by pharmacist on each counter of pharmacy. Markedly reduction noted in queue of patients waiting at the Cash Counters because of silent billing services.

As part to offer services to the society, Institute has started Cancer Care Centres at Siddhpur, Rajkot and Bhavnagar. Medicines are provided to these remote Cancer Care Centres by GCRI Pharmacy. To comply with the vision of Gujarat Government regarding implementation of Day Care Chemotherapy Centres, 29 district and sub-district hospitals are provided Chemotherapy medicines by GCRI Pharmacy. In addition, Sir Sayajirao Gayakwad Hospital, Baroda and Guru Govindsinh Hospital, Jamnagar are provided Chemotherapy medicines by GCRI Pharmacy.
